Glaze's Funeral

He had thousands of friends and i've had quite a few phone calls for information on the date and time so l thought it worthwhile letting all on here know as l know theres plenty who don't use Facebook and were friends of Pauls.

Its 4.00 o'clock Tuesday 18th July, at Countesthorpe Crematorium followed by a drink or two at the Monsell Club.

Link: The family are not far short of the target.

If my fading memory serves me right , I think it was Glaze who got the tickets for the Kov seats around 84/85

About 100 of us up there followed by the pitch invasion which stopped the game

RIP Glaze

Correct Scoops
It was Indeed Glaze who went and got the tickets ( in his YSL blazer, Farahs and Ravel moccasins 😁)
Must know you if you were one of the lads back then.
Bnet , see you on Tuesday to have drink for our mate👍💙

You know that day at Cov, which l wasn't involved in. I remember being in the Wyken Pippin or the other one near by before the game with Paddy O'Keefe, who's funeral l went to last Saturday. Some turn out for that! RIP Paddy.

l mention this partly because Paddy would have been in with that 100 i'd have thought, was the lads who Glaze got the tickets for in that area pre-match?

We were in the town before the match as usual.
The main bulk got there about 10.30 am and a few more of us an hour later .
I was with yet another great lad that day that has sadly left us , Mick Redway💙
It was an annual occasion to get there early doors either on the X69 or the train and take the pish ( and their boozers, Silver Sword, Tallly Ho, Elastic Inn etc)
Has anybody ever seen a Cov fan in any of our pubs pre match ?

They used to always turn up late as I remember , similar to Derby. At least forest did turn up early acouple of times.

About 7 years too late and then to the Charny !!
Jokers with a very snidely side to them
Derby much better, never had our numbers but were very game. Won and lost against them on different occasions.
Can't speak before mid 70s but Forest were a cut above imo until the BS days

early to mid 70's never thought Derby were much, we used to swamp the place and they never came to Leicester. Always thought we had the edge on Forest back then. lt was a different game though then and it was about numbers of which we had. l've met people my age over the years who used to get on trains from all over to come to Leicester because of the amount lads we had mostly teenagers, just to join in. l've met them who just came to Leicester for the before and after and not even go to the matches.

Met some of Derby's main lot with Glaze up there a couple of times from your era. Decent lads really, we were in their players lounge one day with them after we went top by beating them on a Sunday.

I reckon we had a bit of a lull second half of 70s, only taking loads to likes of Ipswich, Norwich ,cov,Derby apart from FA cup games.
Changed for better again 78 onwards when Jock Wallace came.
Always good to hear from an elder 😏

GA is an old old mucker of mine
Seems Whitburn, alyssum, pot noodle , you scoops and me all go back to the early eighties and maybe even before .
At times like this it's sad to take in the fact that another one of our boys has gone but at the same time good to know that our history and our memories are ours to cherish thanks to lads like Glaze and everybody else still here or no longer with us.
LCFC is our bond and always will be .

Snooty - that's true enough

That's how it went sometimes. If you weren't at full strength or caught napping then you could get picked off.

Some great memories and some dodgy moments too.

Any of you lot in the XXXXXXney Pride in London when Pompey threw the CS gas in?

Some of us had got down early and were outnumbered by Pompey. Had a real good go outside though even though we'd been gassed up !!

Just realised that Leeds palaver was the year before the XXXXXXney Pride (Fulham away 83)
Doggy Dave was one of those who got nicked on Piccadilly Circus.
Was a couple after QPR away.

Great turn out for the man, the family did a fantastic job of organising it which must have been really hard. Also being the July fortnight and at least 50 people who would have been there were on holiday. The best set of readings i've heard at a funeral ever, Simons was quality and hit the points which took some balls considering how emotional it was.

Northeroutpost, sorry didn't get to have a drink but l suppose there was a lot of catching up for everyone. l got to have a chat with Pauls daughters, he used to bring them round my house on a Saturday when they were little, lovely girls and a ringer for their dad.

Was nice to see Potnoodle and Bruin, was wondering if any of you others on this thread were there ?

Seems strange, keep thinking, i'll ring him (Glaze) ask him this or tell him that, then l have to remind myself.

By the way have you heard the cunning plan Northernoutpost thats been hatched, completely in the spirit of the man who always had a plan[smi]

Hiya mate
I got stuck in traffic on way down and just made it.
Was one of the 150 or so that couldn't squeeze in to the hall.
Proper turn out for a proper bloke
Everybody did him proud, his family especially but also the LCFC family 💙
Only had time to do the handshake rounds then go and see my old dear before heading black north.
He lived at my mams for a bit way back when ( 91 intact cos he was there when we did the Krishna bit at Ipswich😂)and she still laughs at some of his antics back then.
Shame that the only time I see some of the old faces and there are so many is at these things.
Would love one day for everybody , even those that have stopped going to have a match day out (away) in memory of the Blue Boys no longer with us.
Also think maybe me and you should look at booking the Bowstring or somewhere for a proper night in the same vein ( enjoyed Matts 50th in there but I suppose it being on May 7th 2016 helped 😁⚽️🏆)

Theres a plan for an awayday for Glaze, also the "cunning plan" for his birthday in September. Matt and George ended up round my house after the wake with a bottle of brandy. Could you hear the readings ?
