ice on the terraces, snow piled up round the edge of the pitch
the smell of fags and booze on the breaths
the tiny tannoy playing boney M and Elvis Costello
Keith Wellers tights and magic on the wing
Three home goals and a rare City win

Embarking from the 49 bus in 1966 at Walnut Street with my dad. Every other Levi jacketed youth had "The Doog" emblazoned across their shoulders.

'Going thru turnstile on Burnmoor St. In between 2 terraced houses. Like going through the front room'

I remember taking mates who'd never been before, always made me laugh to see the look on their face when they realised I hadn't stopped to nip through someone's side alley as a shortcut.
First memory was being sat on the wall and then wondering where my dad had gone. Then the game started and all was clear.

Dad taking me to ressies game in 1959. Empty Popular Side and can't remember the result but do remember someone shouting: "Baillie, you're about as useful as a bum-fcked Ay-rab" and asking my dad what he meant...

Wolves 1978. Police wading into pen 4 to sort people out, then pen 4 chanting '142 - we're after you' at one copper who went too far. Do cops still have visible ID numbers at games now?

Snide rosettes outside the ground, every team on sale, bloke's used to carry them on a home made contraption, a bit like carrying a big placard. Also the squadron of hot dog carts that used to appear from the premises on the corner of Filbert Street complete with green fishing brollies.

Recalling the fun I'd had as a lad supporting my first two home teams (parents moved about) Everton then 1st div.champs and later Wigan Athletic in Cheshire League but pulling 3500 per home game, I thought my eldest then 11 yrs old might enjoy a match at the stadium in the place I'd come to call home. Weds night match at Filbo, we went in front of the main stand into the theatre-like atmosphere that floodlights make, I stood amidst a bunch of great lads, City fanataics, he went down to the front to see better. Was thrilled by the endeavours of Tommy Wright, Rooster Russell and Steve Walsh. Soaked up the good vibe due to Brian little's team of promotion hopoefuls and the roars of a partisan crowd backing a winning team. We've been fanatics ourselves ever since, with the lad's younger brothers and sisters we were season ticket holders throughout the years of Wembley defeats and relegations and endless post "traumatchic" stress. That's what you get with a yo-yo club - OUR yo-yo club - and even now as gold card occasionals otherwise stream-dependent foxiles in different towns in Wales.

Vague memories of watching highlights on TV in Australia, where my family had emigrated to.

The old man was very excited when Leicester were on and let me stay up late to watch any City games.

I had no idea about Leicester as a city or the football team.

My dad had persuaded me to support the Geelong Cats Aussie Rules team (at school Aussie Rules was the only thing that mattered), because then I would be wearing a blue and white scarf - in preparation for the Leicester City indoctrination.

Then he moved us back to England and took me to watch Luton beat us 3-1.

The Double Decker, the crowd, the view across the city, the hope and the inevitable disappointment - I was hooked.

4th March 1967 City v Everton, between the houses in Burnmoor Street, exited into the popular side, my first real look at the ground, pure magic!
First time I had seen real footballers, pre match...Gordon Banks, Ray Wilson and Alan Ball came around the pitch carrying the World Cup, again 'Magic'.
Always stood within about two /three yards same place every game as every one else seemed to do.
Plus, there used to be a blind guy near us, with his mate commentating the whole game to him. Up or down it has been magic for me ever since.
