The squad needs a clear out and rebuild. Is Shakey the man to attract the level of talent?

But of more relevance what are the Tops´ ambitions as this will drive the appointment.

I wouldn't have a problem if he got it but I am with Custard.
Simeone would be my first choice.
If he wins the CL with Atletico he may be looking fo a new challenge

What Clapham said.

I do think he'll leave this summer and probably come to England but he wouldn't come and manage us, no chance.

I think Shakey has Done an impressive job & I would have no problem with him getting the job.

However I think it would be only a matter of time before he got the sack, probably sooner rather than later, & that would be sad

As I've said before Shakespeare is the common denominator in our finest period of success, so why would anyone deny him the chance to show his true potential?

I'm pro-Shaky, but I don't think he'll get the nod because the owners believe they'll require 'a name' to acquire top quality players.

Just to be clear.
There iare two reasons he would come here..
Money and the fact that if he decides to leave Atletico none of the really big name clubs have a vacancy.
The Thais have deep pockets and we have shown the potential with improvement in the playing squad to step up a level.
I don't think he will come here but I'd move heaven earth and buckin purgatory to try and get him to do so.

Simeone could prob have his pick of any job outside Madrid and Barca. I think you would have to be pretty optimistic to think we might be anywhere near his short list.

Shakespeare is a big name numerically & historically.
‘Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.’

A few big jobs will be up for grabs at the end of the season. Internazionale, AC Milan and if Juventus win the Champions league, Allegri may be tempted by arsenal, leaving a big job to fill in Turin. Roma may be looking for a new boss too. Simeone could also be in the running for the arsenal job, if they kick Wenger out.

I don't think it ever ends well when players call a manager by a nickname. In one of the TV games I noticed Vardy calling "shaky" for instructions. Too close to them I think. Happy to be proved wrong

I think the time's right for a new face to come in and take us forwards again. Almost as if Tuesday night was a full stop or a semi colon, look at the likes of Southampton to see that we shouldn't fear a new face coming in with new ideas. Some of the squad's shelf life is limited (Simmo, Fuchs, Morgan, Huth, Ulloa) and I like the idea of a new upward era for the club.

Shakey's been great but in my head it's a massive ask to expect someone with no real managerial experience to take us back into that European challenging position, and to also attract top quality talent to the KP.

i would imagine the players all talk to different players from other clubs and with the likes of vardy etc in the international set up if shakespeare made an inquiry the player in question would speak to other players here.
they clearly play for him and respect him so that is a good place to start for any player coming in to the club.

Bob Paisley went on to have great success at Liverpool So did Joe Fagan when Paisley retired. Both were No. 2s who served their time on the coaching staff.
Then they started bringing in outsiders.
Look what happened.

Would wait till end of season . Could be his proving ground . Can he motivate given the players will be flat and disappointed. Little to play for etc etc ? This will
be the test for me . Top half finish would make him only possible choice.

now we have nothing but the league to worry about i expect to see a good return on the last 6 games.
if he can get 12 pts from 6 games, on top of everything else he's done since the don left i think he deserves a promotion.

sadly, i think we're going to get an outside manager from abroad for 'brand recognition'.
