General Alexander - (Ripon, 18:05)

Off the mark in 6f maiden here last spring and largely acquitted himself well in handicaps thereafter. Resumes on a workable mark and capable of making his presence felt.

Major Crispies - (Lingfield, 17:50)

Unreliable individual. C&D winner. Seventeenth of 18 in handicap at Leicester (7f, good, 20/1) 13 days ago. Blinkers back on, tongue strap back on. Chance if rediscovering old form.

Solomn Grundy - (Cheltenham, 16:20)

Progressive earlier this season, and the race at Kempton last month didn't get to the bottom of him, unsuited by being held up in a slowly-run race. Likely still has more to offer.

Just done them as 3 singles. Withdrawn remaining balance before fritter away on us racing tonight. Had 20 on Monaco to win at 21/10. Think they are overpriced.

two tomorrow both with decent E/W chances
4.00 Ripon CHANCERY. ran at Newcastle, LTO and was pushed and shoved to get closer 3 furlongs out and tired in the final furlong could strip fitter tomorrow
5.05 Ripon INTENSE ROMANCE. ran a decent enough race at Wolverhampton LTO to finish 4th hoping it will transfer dirt form to grass

good luck to you all

For the less knowledgeable Micky - what is special about a Fahey 2-Y-O?

I can hazard guesses that he is either trainer or jockey and that this is the ages of the horses...but when it comes to backing...

is it singles? e/w? Doubles?

Or just a heads up that they are running but exhibit some caution.

Sorry matey - always so many questions - but I am slowly getting the hang of it...

...the key to the hosses seems to be not back Raz du Maree in anything bar a one-horse race!! And even then he'd finish second.

Basically, each flat 2-Y-O season starts with the Brocklesby at Doncaster which is a good pointer to how the new hosses are going etc. This season Richard Fahey seems to have his 2 year olds firing early (2 winners at Beverlery yesterday) other years it's been Hannon, Evans, Cox etc. Fahey is based in the north so keep a check on northern 2-y-o races. One year me and kendal won a lot on a stack of 2-y-o that had run in a Leicester race, that race produced lots of winners and placed hosses, one at 80/1 second I recall. This will go on for about 2/3 months until Royal Ascot when all the cream of 2-y-o have their chance to win big bucks. I put them in my tracker for easy reference

Also, alot of early 2-Y-O races are really just watching briefs, waiting until next time.

horses with no form are racecourse virgins and are unbettable unless you see one that has cost 60K as a yearling [:D]

Eggs Fahey is the trainer and his 2-y-olds are very forward for the time of year,

two horses.....you can back singly and a double ie..win or e/w singles and e/w double
Like a 1 e/w =2 for each single =4 and the
double 2 total 6 as you are taking a horse to get into a place
for a win bet it is 3

This is what I read most days, Eggs. Sporting Life Race Info, every horse has a small bit of info for every race.

Here is the info on Fahey's two today which I've backed at 15/8 and 4/1 in a 4 E/W Double

MAGGIES ANGEL Cost 36,000 as a yearling and first foal of a Listed-placed 5f 2yo winner, related to other good sprinters, including third dam Golden Nun, winner of a Group Three. Top yard in good form and with 15% juvenile strike rate, suggesting that she will be thereabouts on debut.

FLO'S MELODY 28,000 yearling. Half-sister to three sprint winners, including one over today's trip as a 2yo. Top stable capable of having one ready to win first time and although she wouldn't look one of their leading lights on paper, a market check is suggested.

You stick it in a tracker which messages you when it is due to run next. Attheraces do a decent enough one.
Go to attheraces.com and register your details. In the top right of the main page there are a pair of binoculars, click on them and then start entering your horses. You will see a link to the racecards and next to each horse the same pair of binoculars. Click on it against the horse you want to track and you can make notes and even if just next run or permanent notifications. They will email you the day before it's due to run.
