Shakey and that?

There is school of thought that the owners may go for a big name manager in the summer to further promote the brand, that would leave Shakey out in the cold surely? He couldn't go back to being a assistant manager agin now

i don't think they will go for a big name.
they tried it once (twice?) with sven (and sousa?), and it was an abject failure.

people are now saying they went for ranieri because he was a big name, but they conveniently forget that he was on his knees when he came in due to the greece debacle. he had a lot of experience, but was definitely not what you would have classed as a "big name". its only now - as a premier league champion - that he is classed as a big name again.

as you say, can't see shaky going back to no.2, and if he walks the owners could be worried about the effect on the dressing room - we've seen how that plays out. so in a way I think their hands are somewhat tied to giving him the gig full time. either that, or letting both him and the bigger characters on the playing staff leave at the same time. (kasper to liverpool...??)

That would be a big mistake unless a number of the squad have indicated a desire to leave in the summer. If this squad stays together than Shakey must surely get a contract.

I've heard that behind the scenes the people that matter still have high hopes for Karius so not totally convinced if he goes that it'd be Liverpool. And it's an if. He might be one that looks to see what the true transfer ambitions are for next year.

If we can get Custard on recruitment and get Wood, knockaert, ***insert any name top goal scorer in any division*** in then maybe he'll stay.

Hopefully the owners have noted what happened at Brum where a 'nobody' of our recent acquaintance who had them on the fringe of a play off place was elbowed aside for a big name. They now face possible relegation.
Shakey's best bet is that his most keen fans are those who play for him every week.

I realise that the world has changed a lot since the days of the arguably great Bill Shankley at Liverpool. I recall when he left he was replaced by his right hand man, Bill Paisley, who many would say brought even greater success to the club. When he in turn retired, the mantle was taken on by another right hand man, Joe Fagan, who was not exactly a failure either.

Just saying like ... there's a precedent for Shakespeare carrying on the Leicester dynasty ... albeit a historical one, of course.

When the players came out and said they want Shakey as the gaffer, that confirmed he'll be off if he doesn't get the gig no new manager would want him around with that hanging in the air.
