FA Cup 4th rd, Leeds United 2 Nottingham Forest 1.
A match that saw Gary Sprake taken off on a stretcher after 5 minutes, Norman Hunter going in goal and Leeds playing with ten men while Sprake was patched up in the dressing room. while "bite your legs" was in goal Forest took the lead through Joe Baker. One of the loudest cheers that day heralded Sprakes return, his right knee well bandaged.
Mick Jones equalized soon after.
Just before half time a penalty for Leeds, the Forest keeper had the ball safely in his arms, Jimmy Greenhoff stood in front of him to stop him kicking it and for some reason Jim Baxster (Forest Defender) pushed Greenhoff to the ground, the Ref immediately blew for a penalty. Johnny Giles did his usual and tucked it away.
Under modern rules the game would have finished with a great number of players having a early bath.
This was the season we won the League Cup and Inter Cites Fairs Cup, reached the FA Cup Semi Final and finished 4th in the League, and put 7 past Chelsea at ER.[smi]

Crikey we must have been good back then. Good job Hull weren't around otherwise we'd have struggled (smiles)

30th March 1998, Leeds narrowly avoid a Munich style Disaster when traveling back from London Stansted airport. Within a minute of being airborne the starboard engine burst into flames forcing the pilot to abort the flight, on landing the plane over shot the end of the runway causing the front wheel to collapse. Luckily only a couple of people suffered minor injuries.
What was a bad enough day, we lost 3-0 to West Ham, could have been so much worse.

Just read about the match v Scum in 1965-all those years ago where today is the anniversary.
Billy Bremner scored the winner and took us to our first FA Cup Final[^]

2nd April 1956. Leeds United 6 Fulham 1 at ER.
The first of six matches we played in April, winning all 6, scoring 20 goals and conceding only 4.
We finished 2nd in Division 2 that season.
(for Grubby)Our last game of that season a 4-1 Away win at Hull (Tiggers) City.

4th April 1970. Leeds United 2 Burnley 1.
Eddie Gray scored twice, one, a delightful chip from 25 yards and the second beating 3 defenders before slotting it home.
A season that promised so much but ended with heartache, a bit like us now.

7th April 1934. Leeds United 8 Leicester City 0.
Nearly 12,000 flocked to ER to see Leeds record their biggest ever League win, a record that still stands today.
4 players scored 2 goals a piece.
Joe Firth, Harry Duggan, Billy Furness and Jonny Mahon.

On Christmas day we played Aston Villa at ER, 24000 saw Ernie Hart, Jack Swann (2) and Percy Whipp (3) score in a 6-0 win. The following day we lost 2-1 at Villa Park, Percy Whipp scoring for us. The following day we traveled to Roker park where we lost 2-1 to Sunderland, Joe Richmond scoring for us.
Imagine todays stars being asked to play Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the next day, and two of those games away without the comforts of modern coaches.

November 30th 2008 in the 2nd rd of the FA Cup.

History, you take the good things with the bad. In our case the good out weighs the bad.

In Hulls case, its trying to find a history.[smi]

11th April 1992. Leeds United 3 Chelsea 0.
Over 31000 saw goals from Cantona, Chapman and Rod Wallace and another step toward winning the League title.
The last Division 1 title before the Premiership started the long process of ripping the heart and soul out of the beautiful game.[|)]

1. It ain't over till the fat lady sings MrJ[:D]
2. And if the worst were to happen at least we can look forward to six easy points off the Lids[:D] (And a 'home' game at Watford for me)
3. My pal has just renewed his two Watford passes - at the old fee - so if they go up I might buy one off him[:O]
4. As you like history 75 there was a good article in yesterday's Sun which showed you beating Chelsea 3-0 on 11th April 1992. It showed you TOP of the league table to boot[:O]
Oh how the mighty ($hitey) have fallen[:D]
5. I have turned down a ticket for both Sat AND Sun semi-final games - my 'Watford' mate works at Wembley!! AND turned down both passes for Watford on Sat - I'll be busy going to Church to pray for a miracle[smi]

Are you going in the Moon under Water??

Are you staying over in Watford if so what doss house?

I have my gardener (12 an hour) on sat morn and have to keep my eye on the lazy bandit - he slopes off behind my summer house for a fag when my back is turned

300 pm that's only a replacement tap washer I would suggest.
Our boiler packed up before Xmas and I tried all morning to get an 'emergency' call out - the guy came FIVE days later and charged me the rate he quoted for the emergency call out - 85 for half an hour - he was there 20 minutes - my fan on the top of the boiler had stuck - he gave it a tap sprayed WD40 on it charged me 140!!

May 2nd 1992.
A Rod Wallace goal gave us a 1-0 win over Norwich City. Gordon Strachan also held aloft the last ever First Division Title Trophy.
A day of joy, not realizing it was also the day the peoples game was no more.
