Viv Richards- better than Sachin

|I would vote for Viv Richards, simply because of the fact that he faced the best quick bowlers of his era like Lillee, Thomson, Pascoe, Hogg, Imran Khan, Hadlee,Willis,Botham ,Kapil Dev etc.He scored his hundreds on quick , bouncy ,seaming wickets(in aus, in eng, right at home in wi) - which requires lot of skill, talent, grit and determination. He performed big when it mattered. The above bowlers bowled consistently at more than 90 mph at their peak . Lillee is widely considered to be the best bowler of all time. He used to fire many unplayable delivereies like bullets at batsmen. Holding is considered to be the fastest bowler uptil now, having broken the 100 mph barrier several times, although there was no technology to record that in his heydays. Viv didn't play against Holding, but batted against him during practice and Holding told that Viv batted better compared to any other batsman against him.He scored these runs without helmet, with multiple bouncers being allowed per over and without the advantage of technology. |
On the other hand Tendulkar and Lara scored their runs against easier bowlers who weren't that quick and on batsman friendly pitches. Tendulkar's record against bowlers like Ambrose, Waqar,Wasim, Donald is just ok and that too on flat pitches. Indian wickets are batsmen friendly. The only time he scored good was against Mcgrath, Warne,Lee. Lara too like Tendulkar had to face easier bowlers in his career compared to Viv. Tendulkar is great at consistency, mental toughness and Lara is good at patience to carve out a big innings. But overall seeing all factors, the best batsman of them is Viv. Tendulkar and Lara just don't match up to Viv on sheer talent .
