The U's reached the final of the Essex Senior Cup after a late win against Dagenham and Redbridge at Victoria Road.
They made a couple of changes to their squad, with Simon Hackney and Medy Elito, who had previously featured prominently in the run to this point, going on loan spells to Morecamble and Cheltenham respectively.
The Daggers fielding a strong side including seven first teamers, the likes of including experienced Darren Currie.
They had the best of the first period but they were unable to break the deadlock as Mark Cousins produced a solid display.
In the second half, the U's came out stronger, only being denied by Chris Lewington in the home goal.
Eventually their pressure told in injury time at the end of the match. Sub Craig Arnott got in between Tommy Tejan-Se and Graeme Montgomery to force the ball into the net.
