Vuvuzella's Banned Across Cardiff!!!

Cardiff is the first city to announce a right out ban at their three main sporting arenas. The 74,000 seat Millennium Stadium, the 27,500 seat Cardiff City Stadium and the 17,000 seat SWALEC Stadium where last year’s First Ashes Test between England and Australia was played have all said no to the vuvu.....

City Miss Out On The Play Offs !

After looking certainties for the play off places and indeed only a few week ago possible candidates for an automatic slot, the bluebirds have done the impossible and finished seventh in the Championship. A final day defeat at Sheffield Wednesday following a heavy home defeat by Ipswich Town, failure to only get a draw at bottom club Charlton and the humiliating 6-0 hammering at Preston North ....

After drawing at Ashton Gate on Sunday afternoon....... There are ten games left and 6 of them at home the Bluebirds will have to mess up big style to miss the play offs. Recent away results have been poor with one point from three games but the home form is excellent and should enable the club to safely secure a top six finish. Home matches against Watford, Sheffield United and Swansea are all ....

Cardiff 2 V Southampton 1

In the pouring rain Cardiff City got off to a winning start thanks to a late headed goal from Roger Johnson. The goal came at the end of a much improved second half performance after a poor opening period which ended all square. Cardiff took the lead with five minutes to go with a well struck shot from Steve Thompson, although this was quickly cancelled out with a well worked Saints goal at ....

Fa Cup Final - Defeated But Not Disgraced!

The 2008 F.A. Cup final was won by Portsmouth but both teams played their part in a memorable afternoon, and the Bluebirds were not the push-overs many pundits had predicted they would be. The Championship side took the game to their Premiership rivals for long periods of time and especially in the first 30 minutes of the match dominating the play for long periods.  The first goal was ....

All eyes now turn to Wembley and the show piece match against Portsmouth on Saturday. Bothe teams have taken their feet of the gas in recent weeks and neither go into the game in good form. Pompey lost at home to Fulham on Saturday whilst the Bluebirds have enjoyed a long break not being involved in the play offs. Team news to follow all being well....

Cardiff City Breaze Past Barnsley.

In their last game before the FA Cup final Cardiff City beat the team who they last played in the Semi Final last month 3-0.  The goals coming from  Paul Parry 44, Kevin McNaughton 49 and Joe Ledley 63. The attendance was a massively disappointing 14,469 which if you compare it with some of the other crowds in the division shows how far behind we are in terms of core support. We ....

Strong Words After Six Goals At Turf Moor.

David Jones and Andy Cole exchanged words after Burnley and Cardiff City drew 3-3 on Saturday afternoon. Darren Purse was sent off for a late challenge on the former England and Manchester United striker. Cardiff fought back from being 2-0 down to take a point in what has become a meaningless run in to the end of the season.  Purse will probably miss the FA Cup final after receiving his ....

Cardiff City 3 V Blackpool 1

FA Cup finalists Cardiff City are now unbeaten in 10 league and cup games but still less than 15,000 turned up to watch the match onSaturday afternoon. Take away the Blackpool fans and the home support was about 14,000 - so where were the other 19,000 from last week ???  Play off hopes are still alive and all the team can keep doing is picking up the points. Speaking after the match Cardiff City boss David Jones said  "It was a tough match as Blackpool are a ....

Ipswich Town 1 V Cardiff City 1

Backed by 148 travelling fans, just slightly less than went to Wembley on Sunday the Bluebirds fought out a 1-1 with the Tractor Boys from Suffolk.  The point just about keeps the play off dream alive but three would have been much better, but it could have been none as a late Ipswich goal was over-ruled by the ref... Cardiff City 1 V Barnsley 0 - Fa Cup Semi Final.

Cardiff City can hopefully put the ghosts of 1927 to bed as they are now 90 minutes away from winning silverware again. A one nil victory over Barnsley has booked their place in the 2008 FA Cup final. With all due respects to that historic victory as David Jones has said it ispart of opur history and should take it's place there. The 2008 semi final was not a classic, and it was settled by a Joe Ledley volley within the first ten minutes. Barnsley had the better of the game in the first ....

Fa Cup Semi Final

Cardiff City and Barnsley meet on Sunday afternoon at Wembley in the second FA Cup semi final of the weekend. By then the winners will know if they are to play West Brom or Premiership Portsmouth in the Final next month.  Dave Jones has a few selection decisions to make but Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink is sure to figure after missing the last three games through suspension.  Both clubs have sold their allocations and over 70,000 should be in the stadium for the match which is the ....

Another No Show By The Fans !

Despite still being in a shoutof the play offs only 12,000 or so Cardiff City fans turned up last night to watchthe 0-0 draw with West Brom. Over 20,000 should take a long hard look at themselves on Sunday ! Do we deserve to even be thinking about the premiership? Thankfully WBA's large following made the crowd look respectable and it was an entertaining scoreless draw. The game highlighted Cardiff's lack of fire power and Warren Feeney's brief appearance will have done littel for the lads ....

Where Were The Missing Thousands ?

We are taking 33,000 fans to Wembley on Sunday and yet only 12,000 ( at best ) turned up to watch The Bluebirds play Southamprton on Saturday afternoon. The game was won by a Paul Parry strike early in the first half but many fans were embarrassed by the empty seats and being outsunf by the visiting support which must have been nearly 1,000.  We are obviously not as big as we think we are and the attendance must have sent a strong and depressing message to the board. We are still ....

37 Years On And We've Beaten Them At Last!

1971 is a long time ago but that was when we last beat Bristol City in a league game - however the wait is over and we have ended the hoo doo!   More to follow but here's the comments.... Cardiff City boss Dave Jones speaking after the match said "It certainly was a full-blooded, ding-dong derby match. We had a couple of situations where we out-numbered them and we didn't take advantage. Then we lost our shape trying to get a second goal and we let them back into the game. ....

Hasselbaink Sent Off As City Only Draw....

Paul Parry gave the Bluebirds a perfect start as their quest for the playoffs and David Jones' dream of three trips to Wembley re-started. The bottom team in the league had most of the play but could not turn their first half dominance into goals. At half time the FA Cup semi finalists went in with a slender one goal lead.  It all went wrong in the second half with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink getting a red card on 62 minutes and then the Bluebirds conceded a goal ten minutes later. Cardiff City brushed aside a very poor Middlesbrough side to join Portsmouth and Barnsley in the FA Cup semi finals! Goals from Peter Whittingham and Roger Johnson in the first half were more than enough to give The Bluebirds victory.
