Bolton Wanderers sank to a 2-0 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers to continue their run of failing to keep a clean sheet in a single Premiership game this season.

An embarrasing own goal by Sam Ricketts added to David Dunn's earlier strike to condemn Bolton to their fourth successive defeat, and the side are now in the relegation zone on goal difference.

Defensive problems have been in the limelight already this season and after a summer of new additions the back four has looked unsettled this season.

One of those additions Ricketts was left particularly red-faced when being pursued back towards his own goal the Welshman went for a backpass to Jussi Jaaskelainen but instead lobbed the Finn.

Earlier Dunn had opened the scoring by curling in after build-up work from Jason Roberts and Franco Di Santo after half an hour.

The opener for the visitors came jsut moments after Matt Taylor's free-kick hit Ryan Nelson and struck the bar.

The Trotters backline cleared several Blackburn efforts off the goal line in the match to keep the score down but Megson's side were outplayed.

The goalscorer Dunn volleyed at Jaaskelainen early on and Gary Cahill cleared his header off the line.

After the goal Matt Taylor was at the heart of most of Bolton's good work, another free-kick calling Paul Robinson into action and then heading over from a corner.

Gavin McCann was then there to deny former Trotter El Hadj Diouf on the line, before Ricard oGardner wasted a striknig chance.

Dunn had another chance before being substituted and the home side looked to capitalise though Ivan Klasnic- though Robinson was there for the visitors who wrapped up a comfortable win.
