| Watching MTV Unplugged with Nirvana for the umpteenth time. PS3 upscales it rather nicely. I'll always remember where I was when I heard of Kurt Cobain's death, driving through Oxford Square. Any fellow Nirvana fans on AVFTT? | |

| Good on you T_M. He had his faults, but Kurt Cobain will be remembered alongside Hendix, Presley et al. | |

| Don't get me started on that sack of sh1t. Had he stayed clear of her, who knows how things would've turned out. Smells like teen spirit will remain my favourite song 4 ever. Genuinely changed my life aged 20. | |

| one of THE bands of my lifetime. My brother was lucky enough to see them live before Kurt died. Like misfit I was too young but was aware of them before theXXXXXX hit the fan. In Utero is such a brilliant, brilliant album and Unplugged never fails to bring a small tear to my eye. Superb. Would love to go to seattle and spend a few hours under the bridge where he wrote something in the way. | |

Nevermind is one of them albums that track after track you think "That is fantastic, I love it because of. . . " What a stunning album, so many stunning epics! (Fave track . . and it's difficult. . . Territorial Pi ss ings for it's sheer unadulterated punk heritage). It's one of them albums you buy because it has THAT song you like by that group (Smells Like Teen Spirit in this case) and then the more you listen this becomes the song you skip past the most. Also the Unplugged in New York, a great! (Fave track. . . Come as you Are. . . expertly composed and acoustic sound that has you believing you are butted up to the stage listening live). Edited to add "On a Plain" is just as good!!! And I love them because I'm a punk rocker and it's roots are set in so many of the bands I used to adore as a teenager, such groups as: The Ramones, The Clash, but on a much better musical level. Nirvana could put a tune together better than the groups they modelled themselves off! | |

| Is is that they basically just ripped off the Pixies and Cobain admitted to it ? Calm down though, still a decent band. | |

| Sweet idea. The answers are in no particular order.... Steve Albini John Robb Ian Tilton 1. Albini asked if he could produce the Membranes 87 album Kiss Ass Godhead. For some inexplicable reason the yank had all the previous releases. In 92 he did Nirvana's in utero 2. You got that one. Brother Robb was given the nod by albini that there was a scene in Seattle....unknowns were interviewed and broken worldwide 3. Former Anchorsholme membrane brother took the acclaimed iconic photo of Cobain backstage....the one Q mag put in the top ten of alltime rock photos. He was hanging out backstage in the early days when cobain collapsed off stage. Useless trivia served up on request. The Membranes compilation album released on Constrictor at the same time as utero couldn't have been better titled....Wrong Place at the Wrong Time.... ![]() 3. | |

| Listened to the Them Crooked Vultures album for the first time today. Very impressed with what I heard, but the standout thing is the drumming. Great to hear Mr Grohl back to what he does best. Wish I'd bought a ticket for their gig here now. For those of you who have tickets, take earplugs or Dave will be permanantly damaging your hearing. | |

| It wasn't Blackpool really. It was much more to do with taking the DIY ethic to the extreme. From the very first days thro step 1 instead of being the only punk in the village you become a kiddie band step 2 you make your own instruments (honestly out of lumps of wood) step 3 with no amps you use parents hifi instead step 4 start a fanzine step 5 start a label step 6 as you can't play you can't do covers so you write your own songs step 7 you release your own record step 8 you never get a manager step 9 or lawyer step 10 you and your entourage of violinists, sax players, fire eaters and pre bez stage dancers take off on 5 yr grand tour of Europe until the rotten sorry carcass collapses back in pre madchester mayhem. Meanwhile the rest of the world proceeds in steady ordered progress. | |

| Was never a massive fan, they wrote some good songs, but preferred Faith No More and Soundgarden from that era and genre. And certainly not a spokesman of my generation, well unless you are bang into smack and suicide. | |
