It is great that he is in good spirits, great that this boosts his family and it is very nice of United to invite him along........uplifting stuff. It does also put ones own little problems into context....but not for some clearly

It is I feel disgraceful that some just see it as a chance to ignore that and turn it into a slag Oyston thread......do that on other threads but not one updating people on an old player who has a terrible condition......have some decency for goodness sake.

I am not looking for any responses to this. I just think it's really poor form chaps.

It had crossed my mind too. Not that at least one of the people concerned is any surprise.

That's the point though TAM, isn't it? You wouldn't necessarily know, and they are under no obligation to tell you if they do anything.

Possibly nothing,,possibly little, possibly a lot Tim....that I wouldn't know but the thread was a nice uplifting update and swiftly hijacked...unnecessary and really not great if his family are reading

Tim is this an elephant in the room week.......Rowleys has been de-elephanted! Now you are suggesting another elephant has arrived [:D]

TAM

I hope so too, as it happens. But what I do object to is some people hi-jacking threads in order to have another dig on their favourite agenda - whether it is appropriate or not. They know who they are.

So what exactly is the correct way to raise a question that, for me, must be asked?

Blood, one day his family will let people know how they were treated by Karl ,and for people who care about blackpool fc it will make very unpleasant reading.

It's difficult isn't it
You hear snippets but that's all
The fact Gary has never been back here suggests to me we haven't done what we could have - particularly as his illness coincided with us winning the lottery
Why haven't we held a charity dinner ?
Strange and very sad

One thing we do know is he was off the payroll as soon as legally possible but we are not surprised even if the usual deluded muppets choose to ignore the fact. One word disgusting as usual

Sorry but I don't really get this love in

Yes he played for us for a bit and he worked for us and its a shame that he's ill and all that but really you would think he was some sort of Blackpool legend

He wasn't, he was a Boro and Burnley man, they are the clubs that are close to his heart

I believe the club paid his sick pay, what more should they have done?

I don't get it !!

In the interest of fairness and clarity I presume the thread the o/p is referring to is bedfordseasiders Parky, update thread .........

I'd invite all to look at that thread as perfectly valid posts have been made and not in the manner of what the troublemaking o/p of this thread is suggesting.

Looking at this from an Oyston perspective, BFC is a business, Gary Parkinson was an employee.

I would imagine Oyston has done what he is contractually obliged to do.

Hope it never happens to anyone but if a similar illness struck one of us what would your employer do?

I'm pretty sure mine would do what they had to do, nothing more and nothing less.

What should the club have done?

Trees/Frankel .........Martin......thought you were avoiding anything by me therefore being "restrained" allowing you to stay on here instead of going into your normal modus operandi and getting your 2,000th ban for being a dikk?

Attila, it's not about the money or anything like that, it's about the club making a gesture. They've clearly done absolutely nothing which is the point I'm sure most of us are raising.

Phil they have a large lounge to hold any number of different events plus access to all sorts - ex-players memorabilia and a huge fan base who would support any initiatives
I think that's the point being made

Am i wrong in thinking it's best for people i n situations such as this to come off the payroll so that they can then qualify for access to many other means of help financial & otherwise.

TAM[^]

Doing similar to what Middlesborough did would cost them NOTHING and give the whole of Bloomfield Road a chance to show our support.

So sadly we can clearly see what hasn't been done, what quite easily could, as others have.
