Deadline Day's are a bit like birthday's. Years ago that were exciting, eagerly awaited occasions, whereas nowadays they come along so often you often don't even notice them. Thursday was one such a day. Again, it largely passed without any great incident, although Blackpool did welcome a new loan player in to their fold.

Of all the places in the side you wouldn't expect to see an addition would probably be in midfield. It's an area that already boast of richness of talent which can include Charlie Adam, Keith Southern, David Vaughan, Brett Omerod, Hameur Bouazza, Ishmel Demontaganac, Billy Clarke, Jason Euell and Al Bangura. However, Ollie has decided that another name wouldn't go amiss and so the Seasiders will be welcoming Scottish Under 21 player Barry Bannan.

The Aston Villa player has featured for the Premier League side as well as playing for Derby on loan last season. Bannan "can play winger or central...The Cannon is a nickname he has earned... because he has a decent free kick on him. Quite direct and a scrappy spirited lad too. Generally regarded as a top lad" are just some of the things that have been said about him. Barry will be here until the end of January during a time when we will be without Bouazza beacuse of international duty.

Elsewhere Ash Eastham has headed out on loan to Cheltenham, whilst former loanee DJ Campbell has joined Nigel Clough at Derby and will face the Seasiders on Boxing Day. Another struker Warren Feeney has moved on loan from Cardiff to Sheffield Wednesday whilst Sheffield United have signed Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme and Fulham centre-back Toni Kallio.
