Jordan Rhodes hit his 50th goal in a Blackburn shirt against Brighton on Tuesday night but it was not enough to give the home side all three points.

Rhodes netted from the penalty spot with just three minutes left on the clock to make the score 3-2 to Rovers, but they were caught on the hop when Brighton pressed straight from the re-start and a cross from Jesse Lingard was headed home by Dale Stephens to make the score 3-3.

David Rodriguez had put Brighton ahead with his first goal in English football after 17 minutes, beating Paul Robinson with a low shot at his near post.

Rhodes scored his 21st goal of the season and 49th for Blackburn eight minutes later, reacting quickest to poke the ball into the bottom corner from a free-kick.

Tom Cairney then marked his return from a seven-game injury absence by firing Rovers in front with a goal from a tight angle.

Brighton, whose own top-six hopes have faded on the back of a three match losing streak, made it 2-2 when ex-Rover Gordon Greer poked in a 79th-minute corner.
